Language of Energy
Commincation of colours and geometric shapes
Life throws things at me, at us. Sometimes it is relentless like a barrage of challenges are sent to test our resilience one after the other with barely anytime to catch your breath between. Sometimes the hits outweigh the wins. Sometimes the hits become overwhelming and just the slightest hit can be that one too many and bring us crashing down under the weight making it hard to see the everyday goodness constantly around us.
Sometimes I am tired of being pushed, pulled and thrown. I get tired of having to be strong. I look out to the world, look for some light in the dark to lift me out of this chaos but quickly decide to turn around and head back into my own world. I know I am blessed and despite the torrent in recent years I know my own world at it’s core is a truly beautiful place.
Sometimes I go to my artwork looking for refuge. I go through my portfolio and feel acknowledged, support, comforted and safe. I’m not being biased but I honestly love the power my artwork has to bring emotional relief and support.
I see affirmations
I often see affirmations on social media, words to read and say when you feel overwhelmed, or to read and say when you are looking for inspiration. What if you didn’t have to read or say anything at all?
I love that my artworks can communicate effectively to absolutely anyone as they use a universal language that doesn’t speak a single word. There are less boundaries. The one and only boundary is not having access to the sense of sight.
Nature, colour and geometry
Nature, colour and geometry can cross boundaries and leap gaps in traditional methods of communication.
The language of energy is a simple one, and one we all can comprehend willingly or subconsciously.
A Thistle is a very sharp and spikey plant. Its leaves are covered in sharp spikes that do hurt quite a bit when touched. I know this from experience. A Thistle tells you not to touch it just by it’s appearance. Our brains pick up danger and warn us to stay away. A Tulip on the other hand with its softly shaped petals and beckoning colours send a message of its friendliness, safety and it invites us to have a closer look and even touch its form.
There are no words here to understand this, no instruction, no sounds or verbal commands. Our brains interpret what our eyes see and automatically, quickly and subconsciously arrive at a conclusion as to which determines whether we should touch the Thistle or the Tulip.
It’s a communication style unlike any other. Using colours and geometric shapes communication is effectively and quickly achieved to a global audience.
Incredible communicators
Geometric shapes are incredible communicators. A vertical line can give us a totally different feel to a horizontal one. A circle can send us a message completely unlike the message given to us by a triangle. A spike can warn us where a single wave or curve can call us.
Colours communicate in the exact same manner. Our brains are sent subliminal messages from different colours. Depending on the shade, the hue and how they are used. We get these messages without any logic reasoning. These messages come to us without any effort.
The purpose behind affirmations is to receive a sequence of words repeatedly. When you hear or read a line of words often enough it gets drummed in and becomes something you believe in. It becomes a thought at the forefront of our mind. It becomes second nature and then when we are challenged by things life throws at us, we are able to recall those words quite easily.
Retreat
The photograph Retreat that you can see just above is one of my favourites in The Humble Hunter portfolio. I have a huge canvas of this artwork inside my home. Retreats shades of green offers us the energy of renewal, acceptance, solitude, focus and contemplation plus many others. Retreat is peaceful and serene. Taken using a macro lens of course, Retreat has the ability to take you in and hold clear space for you.
This artwork is designed to hold you, care for you, bring you peace and assistance to unravel and release. It picks you up, puts you on your feet and sets you on your way again renewed and recharged.
I love all that it tells me. I love all of the messages I receive. I love the way it makes me feel.
I go to Retreat when life is throwing things at me that wear me down. The colour and geometric shapes that nature has provided, and that I have translated is a refuge for me. A pause button. It provides respite and a chance to get my shit together before proceeding.
The use of colours and shapes in the artwork Retreat has an amazing effect on me emotionally. I stand in front of it, nice and close. I look all the way through its story and I am taken away from my current crazy reality for a short while.
In my work I aim to translate natures messages and present them to us all for our benefit as much as possible. We all know nature has the power to heal and an intense dose of curated colour and shapes will pack a punch in delivering the required message in the right way at the right time. A sort of intensive care for us when we need it.
An effective form of communication
The best thing about having this medicinal form of communication sitting on our wall is we are able to access it anytime we wish for as long as you need.
Receiving the subconscious message of renewal, solitude, peace and serenity repeatedly through our day also promotes those feelings and drums them in so we have an underlying support that we are able to carry with us at all times. We have the positive affirmation at the forefront of our minds. This message becomes second nature and when we are challenged by life constantly, we are able to recall the message Retreat gives us easily and quickly as the artwork and the strength that it carries has automatically become a part of our daily life and who we are.
Thank you so much for being here,
