The many aspects of wellness
Mental Health Awareness
If there is one thing the world needs right now it is love and kindness. That sounds like such a cliché but when you break things down to the smaller components and place them in front of our big and small issues, its quite clear to see that love and kindness will create a massive shift in everyone’s lives in many ways.
But how does one average person possibly begin to make a difference beyond their own lives? Naturally we start with the person in the mirror and our nearest and dearest, we can’t share positivity if we don’t look after our own backyard and have a starting point or home base to send love and kindness from authentically.
A new direction
In my portrait work I am blessed to be asked by hundreds of beautiful families each year to spend some quality time with them and create something special that they can keep and pass down onto future generations. I absolutely love providing my creative service and love the fact that I can leave a part of my legacy sprinkled in families homes across the state.
What I love the most now is that I have the opportunity to do this for absolutely anyone and everyone, in any country. Knowing I can help people across Australia and the globe really makes me feel like I will hopefully be leaving the world in a better condition than how it was when I found it.
Artwork with meaning
Knowing that meaningful photography that has been specifically designed to have a conversation with your subconscious mind, that has been designed to inspire an emotional response, to provide an immersive healing experience with nature, that reminds us that broken is beautiful, and breaks or faults in life shouldn’t be hidden away but should be celebrated as an important part of our past exists now, and is available to souls in every corner is something I am truly grateful for.
I am so excited that photographs that are functional and yet beautiful, that support issues of mental health, emotional intelligence, wellness, healing, life achievements, open honest conversations, and the possibility of pulling the positives from negative experiences now exist.
The opportunity I have here in The Humble Hunter astounds me
To provide beautiful photography for our walls that is meaningful and functional, providing more than beautiful aesthetic. To provide wall art that is rich and serves a purpose, what a privilege!
The Humble Hunter has also given me the opportunity to focus on my passion for the incredible ability of colour psychology to speak to our subconscious mind, geometry in nature, emotional connection, mental health, macro photography, and the magical ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi. All rolled into one!
You can see I am a huge advocate for The Humble Hunter and all that it stands for.
If anything I hope my photographs will encourage conversations
On a small and hopefully grand scale. From talking of the beauty of the photograph Celebrate and the feelings it conjures, to deep conversations about The Survivor and everything it represents.
It could be a conversation in your own mind were you are reminded about what you have been through, what you have achieved in taking yourself through that lengthy process of accepting and healing.
These are not small things, they are huge and you should absolutely, most certainly be proud of yourself for being here today.
It could be a conversation you have with a new friend who asks about The Survivor on your wall, which presents the opportunity for them to share their own stories and have someone to talk to.
Talking, sharing, supporting, sometimes we don’t realise we need this until it has happened. Sometimes we really need a conversation but don’t know how to break the ice.
Sometimes someone we know just really needs someone to talk to and this can make an incredible change in their lives. Just one conversation.
If my photographs can help in being an ice breaker, a starting point, a ticket to talk. If my photographs can hold a safe space, normalise actively pursuing wellness and good emotional health, enable the start of a support network or the chance to seek help then I feel I have achieved what I have set out to achieve.
Emotional Wellness
A few of my photographs can serve as a single, simple reminder just for the owner.
The photograph Release for example reminds us to be kind to ourselves, forgive ourselves and know that we have always done the best we could at the time with what we had.
Even the best people can sometimes make poor decisions, even those who try their best to constantly be their best version of themselves can have bad days, can fall from grace, can act under stress or pain.
We can only do better when we know better, if we don’t know any better than we have done the best we can. Forgiving ourselves is the first step in moving forward.
Holding grudges from our past doesn’t serve us, not at all. The photograph Release, serves as a constant gentle reminder to love ourselves too, to forgive ourselves as well as others if needed to move on.
Wellness and emotional health needs to be a daily thought, a daily ritual. We need to stay on top of our thoughts ad love ourselves enough to live from a chosen place of happiness, health and well being.
This comprises of little things we should aim to do each day.
Eating well, sleeping well, feeding our body and also our mind with quality content, we deserve nothing less.
Lots of small acts of self love really do add up and create a much bigger opportunity to create a happy and healthy lifestyle, taking care of our mind and body well into our twilight years.
Reminding ourselves to realise that we are doing the best we can on a regular basis, leads us to acknowledging our efforts.
Any effort we are making to maintain our mental health and well being should be acknowledged by ourselves and commended.
Feeling gratitude can be an instant mood changer, and a happy you is all that anyone ever wants.
Thank you so much for being here,
The Humble Hunter x
