About Karen

The Counsellor

Hello! My name is Karen, I am a Registered Counsellor accredited with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA).

My personal life experiences have led me to embrace resilience and develop a growth mindset, allowing me to view challenges positively, seeing them as opportunities for learning and shared experience. My experiences with grief/loss, pre and post natal challenges, parenting struggles and triumphs, working through stress and supporting people through anxiety have led me to approach my specialist areas with lived experience.

I have struggled most of my life with also being a highly sensitive person, it has taken me decades to fully understand what this means and learn how to thrive in life with this personality trait that 15-20% of us share.

I believe in the advantage of early intervention to support people in general, so they can better understand themselves, their thoughts and behaviours with the aim to prevent the development of more clinical mental health conditions. I advocate for the little everyday things we can do to live a full and happy life with mental fitness and flexibility.

I am currently employed part-time by Lifeline Australia, working on the front line providing Crisis Support and Suicide Prevention to those in their darkest hour which I find very rewarding.

I pour my heart and soul into my career which brings me immense happiness and is very fulfilling for me. I truly feel honoured to be a part of others lives and be able to walk beside them for a short while. It is a privilege I am very grateful for.

In addition to my formal training,  have completed further studies in: Perinatal Mental Health Basic Training, Perinatal Loss for Therapists, Grief and Loss, Depression, and Anxiety.
