Karen Ashcroft Counsellor

Your Safe Space.

empowering growth, resilience and well-being.

I support clients through challenge and change, to make sense of what they are feeling, to better understand their situation, and secure coping strategies to help them with what they are going through so they can feel empowered, more in control and be fully present in their everyday life.

I have a passion and focus on supporting highly sensitive people to more fully understand their personality trait, live with purpose and confidence, and embrace strength in their sensitivity.

Karen Ashcroft Counsellor

Hello, I'm Karen

Just the simple act of talking about our challenges in a safe environment where we can feel heard and accepted, helps us to start reducing our stress.

My approach to counselling incorporates a Person Centred Approach with an integrated style.

I am open minded and have a naturally empathetic and compassionate nature. I find it easy to connect to all kinds of people from all walks of life. I very much work in collaboration with my clients to collectively move towards hope and change.

I aim to combine psychoeducation to empower clients to continue their progress unassisted, and evidence-based therapeutic techniques to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts if needed, and learn practical strategies to bring about positive change.

Supporting highly sensitive people.

High sensitivity is a personality trait that is present in around 15-20% of the population.

Sensitivity is often misunderstood, and can sometimes be viewed as a sign of weakness. We may feel our way through life, be emotional and acutely aware, but high sensitivity enables a level of awareness that can be a great advantage in life. Sensitivity is impossible to turn off but manageable with knowledge and strategies in place. Highly sensitive people are more aware than the average person of their surroundings, and other peoples feelings.

What does a Counsellor do?

It’s Time To Take Back Control Of Your Life

If you are experiencing life challenges or changes, needing emotional support, or a safe place to talk through things freely, I am here to help.

Providing a safe time and place to talk, with someone who won't judge you.

You may not have any where else to go, anyone who can listen and understand, or anyone to talk to. You may not have the right supportive atmosphere for you to better understand and work through a problem.

Helping you to develop strategies to manage situations, or to work towards a goal for change.

Life’s challenges reach us all in our lives, sometimes we can experience several challenges one after the other, or a even few at the one time. I can help you navigate these challenges successfully.

Helping to resolve complicated feelings, make sense of things and understand yourself better.

I can help to provide clarity, and understanding in how we think about things, our behaviours and why we act the way we do. Helping you to recognise unhelpful patterns and work towards a more positive path.

How We Can Work Together

Counselling can also be known as ‘Talking Therapy’. During counselling you can discuss issues openly and freely, within a confidential and safe space where there is no judgement. Talking with a qualified professional who can help you make sense of life’s challenges and work with you to move through and find a path forward.

Helping people of all ages, counselling can support you to work through issues you are experiencing, and move through life with a greater understanding and more positive intent.
